Celebration of 37th World Food Day

Kabul, 17 October 2017: The Capacity Development and Institutional Strengthening (CDIS) Output-2 Project of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) of Afghanistan jubilantly celebrated the 37th anniversary of the World Food Day.

The project established a stall in the MAIL premises where the celebration event was organized. In the booth, the project team displayed all the knowledge products produced by the project. At the end of the program, Mr. Naseer Ahmad Durani, the new Acting Minister of MAIL, along with other beneficiary groups visited the project booth and discussed about their products. Minister Durani took a look at the different Irrigation Manuals (technical, procedural and training) developed by the project team. These manuals are developed in consultation with Ministry of Energy and Water (MEW), Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) and World Bank. His Excellency the minister motivated the team to keep up the good work and appreciated FAO in supporting them. He also requested the project to distribute these manuals to the entire country and share people to use them for irrigation works. The team explained that both soft and hard copies of the irrigation manuals can be obtained from the Irrigation Resource Center located in the 7th floor of Pamir Building, MAIL and that the project will make necessary efforts to disseminate these knowledge products.
